PDX Crime allows citizens and community leaders of Portland a way to discover and track crimes happening around the city. Quickly distinguish between different types of crimes and the frequency in which they occur.
Targeted demographic (who is the app intended for?):
The general public, law enforcement and community leaders interested in identifying problem areas and how to address them.
Who and what will be impacted by the app, and how?:
Any citizen of Portland who is looking to keep Portland a safe place to live, work and play.
What is the specific need that is addressed by the app?:
Identify crimes happening in areas across Portland.
Anticipated usage of the app (by whom, under what circumstances, etc)?:
* Community leaders to identify when particular crimes are happening in and around their neighborhoods.
* Parents concerned about where their kids might be hanging out.
How is information presented, that's not presented elsewhere; how is it unique?:
Compared to the existing crime mapping Portland has done, PDXCrime is in the first stages of making it very easy to see trends happening in different areas and neighborhoods.
What are a few of the primary strengths of the design?:
Clean, modern and presented in a way in which you can quickly tell what's happening across the city.

Thanks Max, but that's Justin! ;) Don't worry, you're not the first or even the 5th to call me James.
ahahaha sorry!
I can't wait to see the trends stuff in later stages. Very excited!
Really innovative design and very easy to use. Great job!
PDX Crime sounds like a good app for people to discover who is breaking the law. I like that it allows citizens and community leaders of Portland a way to discover and track crimes happening around the city. Does it track lawsuits as well?
